Contraperfume is an anti-perfume book. Daniel Figuero has not written a historical essay, an autofiction, or a popular science book, and yet, he has written all of them. His experience in luxury houses such as Dior has taken him all over the world, visiting plantations, meeting perfumers, and, above all, honing his already refined sense of smell.
In Contraperfume, The Lord of the Rings is mixed with A Song of Ice and Fire, the rose fields of Grasse with industry anecdotes. In it, we learn about olfactive families, of course, and above all, about the ability of aromas to impact our soul, their cultural influence, and how they adapt to contemporary sensibility. And all of this, with sense, sensibility, and humor.
To celebrate that Contraperfume has become a small cult book, we present this expanded edition with a prologue by Carlos Primo and an epilogue by the author himself.
