Laconicum and Sustainability

For us, sustainability is wanting to do it well. So, in general.

It is wanting to be respectful of the environment, with the community in which we live and with each other.

There is no goal here, only small actions and corrections with which we hope to have a positive impact around. They are all part of a journey that we are not going to negotiate.

What Laconicum does:

  • We have reduced our packaging to a box and protectors, only in cases strictly necessary for the protection of the product). They are 100% sustainable and recyclable, we do not use plastics of any kind

  • For shipments in Madrid we work with Cleta, an express courier that guarantees that 100% of the services are carried out in a sustainable way. All packages are delivered by bicycle. Cleta is a cooperative that is committed to the ethical and dignified work of its workers.

  • In addition, we have collection points spread throughout Spain; Choosing point collection reduces CO2 emissions by up to 5 times.

  • At Laconicum we ONLY sell cruelty free brands (it would be necessary), which guarantee that they do not test on animals. We join those who have a strong commitment to the environment and their community.

What you can do:

  • Buy carefully. Give away the products you won't finish
  • Recycle or reuse the packaging.
  • Pick up your order at one point; This reduces CO2 emissions by up to 5 times.

They work with The World Land Trust (a UK charity that has raised more than £25 million to buy and protect more of 774,000 acres of threatened habitat in Africa, Asia, Central and South America) and The Woodland Trust UK's largest forest conservation organisation, concerned with the creation, protection and restoration of native forest heritage. It has planted more than 43 million trees since 1972) to measure, reduce and offset the carbon footprint of its paper use, with the goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2021. Additionally, it is partnered with One Tree Planted, a non-profit organization dedicated to global reforestation.

Dr. Barbara Sturm: Over time, they have reduced packaging and cellophane wrapping, are using recycled paper from sustainable forestry (for product boxes and brochures), and are switching from plastic packaging to recyclable glass.
