Pleasure Laconicum nº5

Chatting about everything and nothing on the edge of a pool

Q&A: Clara Laguna, beauty, fashion and travel editor at Traveler

Clara Laguna takes a plane with a Dior, challenging Filomena herself (the storm with which 2021 greeted us) to make an editorial for Traveler magazine. The Dior is exquisite, and she manages to introduce it into a travel and lifestyle magazine with the same ease and coherence with which the most famous fashion magazine on the planet would do it. The same thing happens with beauty: Clara tries and tries again and looks for the story behind the product, preferably a travel story, she puts it in her suitcase and off she goes. The last destination was Tangier, Marrakech and Chefchaouen by Salima Issaoui, creator of Uzza. There will be many more. Meanwhile, she chooses a citrus perfume, one with "baby touches", those that make her happy, or one more special that makes her travel when she closes her eyes

1. Your favorite Laconicum product.

Without a doubt this Uzza cream for dry skin, Sandstorm. Since I tried it I use it compulsively, several times a day. A priori it was not my 'cup of tea', due to the somewhat thick texture and lack of aroma, but it leaves my skin so comfortable that I can no longer live without it.

2. What's the geekiest thing you've ever bought.

Mmm... I don't think I consider anything I buy 'geek', but maybe it's because I'm really into this and I've already lost perspective. I don't know, a refreshing foot spray? I love everything related to feet. A lip contour smoothing cream? The truth is that it was wonderful (from Clinique) and I miss it, I don't know if they still make it...

3. A hobby beauty in your routine.

All. I don't see them as hobbies (removing your makeup every day is a good habit, not a mania, right?), but rather as enjoyment. If I'm not exhausted – or, sometimes, precisely because I am and it's restful for me to do the ritual – I like to give myself a good time and bring out my full arsenal, especially at night. During the day it is difficult for me to leave the house without eye cream, eye circle remover, a bit of shadow... I'm lazier when it comes to my body and when it comes to hair, I don't have much trouble either. Occlusive masks don't suit me very much, they overwhelm me. Maybe as a hobby I could say that I can't live or travel without my eyebrow brush. Or that I like to rinse with water after micellar water or makeup remover milk, even if it's not necessary.

4. A product that you don't know what it is and you're embarrassed to ask.

I am not at all embarrassed to ask, especially if it is about something of beauty.

5. If you arrive home late, it is most likely:

1. May you sleep with makeup on.
2. Use a wipe to remove your makeup.
3. May you even sleep with your bag on.

None of the 3, but if I have to choose it would be 2. Of course, now I have a washable and reusable wipe, it doesn't kill me (I prefer to use my hands) but I already said goodbye forever to those of a I only use .

    6. What product or trick fixes a bad day?

A good massage with oil and a jade roller or a gua sha, combined with a mist like OSA Water Mist from Bioeffect and a little bit of illuminator in strategic places.

    7. Your favorite scent and one you can't stand.

When it comes to perfumes I am very unfaithful and perhaps a little basic, I like citrus and florals, although depending on and how a powdered I may like it too. My favorites lately are Le Temps des Rêves by Goutal and Sun Song by Vuitton, both have a baby touch that makes me very happy. A scent that I can't stand... I don't know if I'm that radical, but I don't really like vanilla, coconut, oud, anise... but it always depends on who is wearing it, of course.

    8. An infallible makeup trick.

If we talk about results, less is more, unless you are in expert hands or you are doing it for pure fun (which is fine too).

    9. On a bad hair day, what do you do?

    1. Use a finishing product.
    2. Quick bun pull
    3. Helped hat.
    The 1, 2 and sometimes also 3.

    10. The last whim beauty that you have given yourself.

A Kiehl's body wash with a cilantro scent.
