Laconicum Pleasure No. 15

Buying flowers, like Mrs. Dalloway

Q&A: David López, beauty editor at GQ

From how to remove acne scars to the best eye contour for men, from hair serums so you don't envy Jared Leto's hair to the use of niacinamide. David Lopez It is a real beauty freak, he doesn't skip a trend but he doesn't let himself be carried away by them without direction. He leads the way by writing in GQ about what really matters: good hair, a good serum, an eye contour that works. The beauty that does. He does it because he is a taster; he tests and applies before recommending. And since we can't dive into his cosmetics closet or hire him as a guru, We suggest you read it on GQ onlineAnd here, of course, where we have subjected him to a test to find out everything about his routine and his whims. beauty.

1.  Your favorite Laconicum product.

At the beginning of this 2021, I asked for Kings' Day Lumilixir serum Mabel+Meg Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin C Cream. Since then, I can't get off this bandwagon (I'm starting my fourth bottle!). All the wonders I've been told about it seem too few. Since I've been using it, I notice my skin is juicier but without a greasy feeling (very important for me, a person who has oily skin and is not 100% a fan of the totally matte effect) and even with fewer acne breakouts. I've tried other alternatives that have done more or less the same job, but Lumilixir is the one I always go back to and the one I recommend.

2. What is the geekiest thing you have ever bought?

Please, a minute of silence for all face masks veil with animal faces that I have used over the last few years. Bear, lion, dolphin… Almost the entire zoo, in short. I'm not hiding.

3. A mania beauty in your routine.

As a person who likes to take good care of her hair - I have very curly, dry hair with highlights - and who is afraid of baldness, I can't go to sleep without having done a massage on the scalpIt stimulates circulation for stronger, more resistant hair, I see more volume when I finish it (hence I also do it before an important event) and, by the way, it is very relaxing.

4. A product that you don't know what it is and are embarrassed to ask.

As of today, I am still quite lost in the field of cleansing oils. It may be because the word 'oil', as a person with oily skin, causes me rejection (even when using products that I know include oils in their formulations and work wonders for me). And then… is epigenetics the metaverse of skincare?

5. If you come home late, you will most likely:

1. That you fall asleep without cleaning your face.
2. That you use a cleaning wipe (argh).
3. That you sleep even with  shoes on.

Whether it's 12 at night or 6 in the morning, whether I've put on makeup or not, I can't get into bed without having cleaned the face at least. However, I reduce the steps to the basics: cleansing and moisturizing cream. The eye contour and serum can wait a few hours…

6. What product or trick fixes a bad face day?

I have two: the face mask flash Light Up by PSA, which I discovered thanks to Laconicum, which illuminates the face and gives it a rested look in 5 minutes (although I leave it on as long as possible, especially on weekends); and the Color-Smart moisturising cream with protection factor from Shiseido, which goes from white to skin colour when applied (magic), blurs small imperfections and evens out skin tone.

7. Your favorite scent and one you can't stand.

Although I am increasingly experimenting with perfumes, I am more into intense aromas, such as oriental and woody ones. Slow Dance by BYREDO It's one of my favourites, but I also love the barbershop scent of At The Barber's by Replica, the Maison Martin Margiela line. I find excessively floral aromas a bit more difficult, although I must admit that Rose Cherie and Santal Pao Rosa by Guerlain have really surprised me.

8. A trick beauty infallible.

Apply a little bit of illuminator on cupid's bow for lips that are a little more striking and with more dimension.

9. On a bad hair day, what do you do?

1. Use a finishing product.
2. Quick bun pull
3. Helpful cap.

Blessed be he dry shampoo. Apply, massage and off you go! It doesn't delay washing much longer, though.

10. The last whim beauty that you have given yourself.

I have repurchased the Social Life Shampoo by Larry KingI love the way it smells and the way it leaves my hair. It doesn't cost a fortune, but it's worth it.
