Laconicum Pleasure No. 15

Buying flowers, like Mrs. Dalloway

Q&A: Clara Laguna, beauty, fashion and travel editor at Traveler

Clara Laguna takes a plane with a Dior defying Filomena herself (the storm with which 2021 greeted us) to do an editorial for the Traveler Magazine. Dior is exquisite, and she manages to introduce it into a travel and lifestyle magazine with the same ease and coherence with which she would do it in the most famous fashion magazine on the planet.  The same thing happens with beauty: Clara tests and tests again and looks for the story behind the product, if possible a travel story, puts it in her suitcase and flies away. The last destination was Tangier, Marrakech and Chefchaouen by Salima Issaoui, creator of UzzaThere will be many more. In the meantime, choose a citrus perfume, one with "baby touches", those that make him happy, or a more special one that makes him travel when he closes his eyes.

1.  Your favorite Laconicum product.

Without a doubt this Uzza cream for dry skin, Sandstorm. Since I tried it, I have been using it compulsively, several times a day. At first it wasn't my cup of tea, because of its somewhat thick texture and lack of aroma, but it leaves my skin so comfortable that I can't live without it.

2. What is the geekiest thing you have ever bought?

Mmm... I don't think I consider anything I buy to be 'geeky', but maybe it's because I'm so into it that I've lost perspective. I don't know, a refreshing foot spray? I'm crazy about everything related to feet. A smoothing lip contour cream? It was actually amazing (from Clinique) and I miss it, I don't know if they still make it...

3. A mania beauty in your routine.

All of them. I don't see them as obsessions (remove makeup (it's a good habit, not a mania, right?), but rather as a form of enjoyment. If I'm not exhausted – or sometimes, precisely because I am and doing the ritual relaxes me – I like to take a good while and take out all my arsenal, especially at night. During the day I find it hard to leave the house without eye contour, dark circles remover, a little bit of shade... I'm more lazy when it comes to my body, and I don't really bother with hair. I don't really like occlusive masks, they get me stressed out. Maybe as a mania I could say that I can't live or travel without my eyebrow brush. Or that I like to rinse with water after bathing. micellar water wave cleansing milk, even if it is not necessary.

4. A product that you don't know what it is and are embarrassed to ask.

I'm not at all shy about asking, especially if it's about something related to beauty..

5. If you come home late, you will most likely:

1. That you go to sleep with your makeup on.
2. That you use a makeup remover wipe.
3. That you sleep even with your bag on.

None of the 3, but if I had to choose it would be the 2nd. Of course, now I have a washable and reusable wipe, it doesn't kill me (I prefer to use my hands) but I've already said goodbye forever to single-use wipes..

    6. What product or trick fixes a bad face day?

A  good massage with oil and a jade roller or gua sha, combined with a mist in the style of OSA Water Mist by Bioeffect and  a little bit of illuminator in strategic places.

    7. Your favorite scent and one you can't stand.

When it comes to perfumes I am very unfaithful and perhaps a little basic, I like the citrus and floral, although according to and how a dusty I might like it too. My favourites lately are Le Temps des Rêves by Goutal and Sun Song by Vuitton, both have a babyish touch that makes me very happy. A scent I can't stand... I don't know if I'm that radical, but I'm not really into vanilla, coconut, oud, anise... but it always depends on who's wearing it, of course..

    8. A foolproof makeup trick.

If we talk about results, less is more, unless you are in expert hands or you are doing it for pure fun (which is also very good).

    9. On a bad hair day, what do you do?

    1. Use a finishing product.
    2. Quick bun pull
    3. Helpful cap.
    The 1, 2 and sometimes 3 too.

    10. The last whim beauty that you have given yourself.

A Kiehl's body gel with a cilantro scent.
